BEHIND OUR LOVE... CHAPTER 12

       I nodded mutely with my gaze not leaving the floor. She heaved a sigh then took my hands into hers. She smiled, "then its has to stop now, I've spoken to your dad and he has agreed to it..."  "Really mom?" I interrupted her, my voice rose in suprise with a wide grin on my face. She nodded smiling at me "but he has a condition." The wide grin on my face suddenly disappeard I stammered "con..condition? What condition mum?" With moisture in my eyes. I became so anxious in knowing this condition.

        She saw that look on my face and forced a smile on her face to make me feel at ease. "Don't worry its a simple condition" she said "he agreed to your proposal only if you're going to continue with your studies after the wedding, no backing out." She added. My mood suddenly changed I had that dilemma look on my face. I know marriage and studies don't work out together, but I have to agree to this condition, I am ready to take risks if its regarding James, I can do anything, I mean a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g.

      I finally spelt it out. "I agree mom, I agree to dad's condition." She heaved a relieved sigh "I know you would. So back out that annoying attitude of yours, your dreams will soon come true. I'll talk to James mother first thing tomorrow morning okay?" I don't know how my life will be without my mother. I embraced her, feeling her warmth. "Thank you, thank you mum. I love you so much." I said. She gently rubbed her palms against my back "is okay dear, its the least I could do to my daughter."

     The following day**

     I heard mom on the phone and am certain it was with aunt Elena. I tried to eavesdrop on her but she was talking so softly and her voice was lowered, the door also closed. So I couldn't hear a word from what she was saying. I can't wait to here what was aunt Elena's reaction about this whole thing. I silently walked back to my room and kept pacing. Some minutes afterwards mum knocked on the door and came in. I walked towards her and laced my fingers with hers, studying her with curious intensity. She teasingly smiled "oh common dear your nose is turning red already, calm down." From her reaction I can tell the result was positive.

      I couldn't wait nomore and I said curiously, "tell me mom what did she say?" "She said yes." Mom answered me instantly. What! I feel like freaking out now. "She said yes?" I mimic mom. "Ofcourse and she was thrilled also, she said later on she'll talk it with James lets just hope he will also like the idea." My mood changed from good to worst, I felt my world slow as the realisation shed down on me. What if James says NO! what if... I heard mum snapped "I know he would definately say yes dear, he will say yes. How can he say no to this gorgeous lady?" She teased me.

     I can't help but smile at her, "I wish everything will turn out the way I want it" I muttered eanestly.


   JAMES POV;
**flashback

       I just came back from shopping with my girlfriend, Meridith, she's my everything I can't wait to introduce her to mother. After parking in the lot I made it to the sitting room mum was sitted there as if though waiting for someone. She snapped "come sit sweetie" pointing at the space left beside her on a couch. I wasn't adamant of what going on but I trust mum the way she seems so thrilled I know its a big great news. I magestically walked towards her and sat.

      "What the occasion mom?" I asked smiling at her. "I've chose a wife for you" she said instantly and giggled. I nearly choked what? did I hear her right? A wife? What of Meridith? I pulled myself out of my thoghts and said in a very unpleasant manner "I don't want her." She hesitated, "but you don't even know her, how can you say that sweetie?" I snapped "I dont want to know her mum. I decide that myself mom its my life remember?"  "Yes it is dear, you're going to like this idea because she's related to you."

         I became more aggravated I hate this arranged and home marriage whatever. "I said I dont want her mom" harshly. I nearly scared her, I never used that tone with her but  ican't help it, I dont like this idea at all. I apologised, she laced her fingers with mine "is okay dear" she said. "Do you remember Izzy? The girl we visited her mum the other day?" I thought for a while but I can't remember.

      She kept describing her for me until I remembered although I can't remember how she looked like. "...so shes the girl I choose you, you guys will make a prefect couple." "What?" I snapped "was that a joke or something?" I narrowed my eyes on her. "Mum please lets not talk about this, am not ready for marriage" I lied. "And its super 90's. Arranged marriages aren't existing now its not like we are in 1879 anymore, its 2016 right?" I raised an eyebrow.

      "Ofcourse it is dear," she said toying and messing with my hair. I backed off "seriously mom I'm not into this, it should stop right here I don't want daddy to hear a word about this. I don't want that your cousin daughter Izzy or whatever she is, am not interested in her." I said icily and walked off

      Just as I was about climbing the stairs mom called my name in an angry tone. "James come back here" she damanded. I really don't want this to come between me and my mom but why can't she just leave things the way they are. "You're going crazy mom" I muttered and walked back to her. "Sit!" and I sat. "I'm so disappointed in you James, you never once disappointed me and made me feel ruthless like this. Its not as if Izzy is a total stranger she's a daughter to my lovely and best cousin asn its not as if she's handicapped, she's young and beautiful, she's down to earth...

      ...But the way you acted ealier, I felt so embarrased, this is like rubbing it to my face that you don't love me since you don't love one of my own..." She said with her eyes filled with moisture. "Noo, noo not at all mom that wasn't my point. I.. I.." I stammered. "You what James? Isn't it what your behaviours earlier showed?" "No mum that wasn't what I meant" I said my voice dropping considerably...

     "Then do this for me son. I can't say no to Alice (Izzy's mum)..." I interrupted her "say no to her like how?" I asked with a questioning expression on my face. "Omi'god I shouldn't have mentioned that to James." I heard mum muttered then louder she said, "no nothing never mind. Err sweetie please do this for me believe me you're not going to regret this. You'll eventually get to like her she's a very lovely girl...

      ...Are you going to do this for me sweetie? Just set up a date for you guys so you guys can get to know about her I know you guys will love each other at the very end. Please James do this for me. Mom wants that so badly" She pleaded her gaze not moving from mine.

         I heaved a sigh and offered a silent prayer. I really don't have any choice do I? I have to agree to this sh*t or else dad will get to know about it and aggravate the circumstances and for sure mum will stay mad at me. I faked a smile at mom who was curiously waiting for a reply from me. "Okay then, you give me no choice" was my respond and not from the buttom of my heart I know she would reason that too from the look on my face it was not convincing at all.
